Aubert Announcement For State Senate

I would like to take this opportunity to announce my candidacy for the position of State Senator for District 2. This district is new to the River Parishes, created during the Special Session for redistricting. I am a lifelong resident of St. James Parish. I’ve been married to Claudette Hill Aubert for 37 years and we have three children: Miguel, Dana, and Amber and one grandson, Austin. Upon graduating from high school, I joined the United States Air Force where I served four years as a Communication Center Specialist with a top Secret Security Clearance. In 1991, I was elected to the St. James Parish Council where I served 16 years, with 6 years as Council Chairman. During this time, we, as a Council, reduced spending, reduced taxes and improved services to our residents. It can be done, but it must be done wisely. I am currently serving in the Louisiana House of Representatives, representing District 58. I have been a member of the Vacherie Volunteer Fire Department for the last 24 years.

I have dedicated my life to serving the people. When I ran for the House of Representatives, my platform was clear: Education reform, job creation and improvement to our communities. Despite the economic downturn, we have managed to fund some major road projects, land major investors, such as Nucor, SNF, Marathon expansion, and many others into our area, and have given our schools more flexibility. As I look to the future and at the ever-changing world, it is evident that we must remain competitive. As your new Senator, I will fight to keep Louisiana as an aggressive contender with other states in the country. I will work with my colleagues to fight for jobs, to continue to improve our education system, to make health care available and affordable to all of the residents of Louisiana, and to continue to fight for the people who protect this country, our veterans and our military. I’m running on my record as a military man, a councilman and a State Representative. I have served with honor and integrity, and I humbly ask for your continued support for the office of State Senate.
